CWA Presents - The Veteran Hunt Program
California Waterfowl is proud to offer exceptional hunts and other outdoor opportunities to servicemen and women through its Veteran Hunt Program. The Veteran Hunt Program began in 2011 and to date has provided over 3500 veterans an opportunity to spend a day in the marsh with fellow Veterans! CWA coordinates all hunt details, food, lodging, and venues for the hunts and includes a package of giveaways to remember your day afield. Hunts are Veteran focused, require a CWA membership and are eligible for all active duty, reserve, retired, and honorary discharged veterans.

The California Waterfowl Association (CWA) hunt programs are an important part of the organization's mission to conserve and manage waterfowl and wetlands in California. Hunting can play a valuable role in the management of wildlife populations and can provide important economic and recreational benefits to local communities. By promoting responsible hunting practices and educating hunters about the importance of conservation, CWA helps to ensure that hunting remains a sustainable and valuable part of the ecosystem in California.
HUNTING
Hunters are the driving force for wetland conservation. Why? Because we know conservation is what makes hunting sustainable. Regardless of whether they own duck clubs—put money directly into habitat conservation through hunting license and stamp fees.
HUNT PROGRAM
California Waterfowl Hunt Program is for hunters of all levels to experience the thrill of the hunt while also supporting wildlife conservation efforts. This Program provides access to 60,000 acres of private land; including some of the most prestigious duck clubs in the country. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced hunter, CWA's Hunting Program has something for everyone.
HUNTER TRAINING
California Waterfowl provides an array of programs that go beyond the basic hunter education required for getting a hunting license. Most of our hunter training programs include shooting instruction, with a strong emphasis on safe gun handling. There are two types of events for new hunters of all ages:
Hunter education events.
Hunter development events.
HUNTER DEVELOPMENT
California Waterfowl offers a number of events where instructors will walk them through what they need to learn and mentors will help them hunt. In many cases, loaner gear including firearms and specialized clothing will be available. There is a strong emphasis on safety - we help you build safe gun-handling habits!
VETERAN HUNT PROGRAM
California Waterfowl is proud to offer exceptional hunts and outdoor opportunities to servicemen and women through its Veteran Hunt Program. The program promotes wellness through outdoor healing and the camaraderie of fellow veterans. The Veteran's Hunting Programs allows them to find a sense of purpose and helps them to heal from the physical and emotional wounds of war.
WOMEN'S HUNT PROGRAM
California Waterfowl Women's Hunting Program is an exciting opportunity for women to learn about and participate in hunting. Led by experienced guides and educators, this program is designed to introduce women to the sport in a supportive and welcoming environment. This Program is the perfect opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with other like-minded women.
SEASON DATES AND BAG LIMITS
Waterfowl hunting regulations are set at two levels: The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service sets science-based frameworks based on waterfowl population and other data, with guidance from councils established in each flyway. Then the California Fish & Game Commission sets regulations that fit within those frameworks.
