Here are some of the highlights of the Winter issue:
Gear Guide. In this issue's gear guide, take a look at what items CWA staff and magazine contributors have been testing and loving this season, as well as other products we're excited about. The guide covers guns, ammo, duck calls, apparel, gun dog supplies and more items for you to check out this hunting season.
Advocacy. Mark Hennelly, CWA’s vice president for advocacy, reports on the latest ways we've been fighting for waterfowl, wetlands and hunting. The article describes the CWA-endorsed DFW lands regulations package, results of the Benicia hunt ban petition, AB 28 ammo and gun tax update, and our request for more hunts at the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge Complex.
Rice producer saves ducks. For years, Lundberg Family Farms has demonstrated its commitment to regenerative organic farming practices by helping to save save ducks in its fields. Read about the California rice producer's partnership with CWA, as well as its latest efforts to support waterfowl through a new line of merch.
What kind of shotgun (print issue only). With so many different shotguns out there, it can be hard to know which one will fit your needs. Before shelling out big bucks, check out shotgun expert Phil Bourjaily’s list of subjective qualities to consider, which should help narrow the search for a gun that suits you.
After Action Review (print issue only). Did your last hunt season go the way you planned? Author M.D. Johnson explains the concept of an After Action Review and how it can help you analyze your past hunts to improve the outcomes of the next season. He also asks experienced hunters about their own waterfowling AAR.
Canine Corner, sponsored by SportDOG® Brand. In the last installment of our 4-part series, Tom Dokken describes the final steps of helping your dog advance even further with their blind retrieves during retriever training sessions.
