CWA traveled this week to San Diego for the CA Fish and Game Commission meeting

California Waterfowl Advocacy Update:

CWA traveled this week to San Diego for the CA Fish and Game Commission meeting.

CWA testified in favor of our Regulations and Traditions Committee proposal to move the late goose season up one week in the balance of state zone to coincide with the beginning of the Veterans/Active Military hunt. If approved, this would allow veterans and active military to take geese in addition to ducks on their hunt, including on public areas, as many have requested.

CWA also spoke in favor of a DFW lands regulatory package that would provide new quail and deer hunting opportunities on several Central Valley Wildlife Areas, allow for the use of electronic boat motors on Lake Earl Wildlife Area and designate a new Wildlife Area in El Dorado County that would be open to several upland game hunting opportunities.

CWA also briefly spoke with DFW leadership about the ongoing need to purchase water rights and secure water deliveries for the Lower Klamath Refuge and urged additional state support for that effort.
