CWA creates new veteran hunt coordinator position

Mike Peters 2018After more than 30 years serving our country in the U.S. Army in every corner of the world, Mike Peeters has joined California Waterfowl as our first veteran hunt coordinator.

Peeters grew up in Wisconsin and was tagging along with his dad and uncles to the marsh pretty much as soon as he could walk. Wisconsin is big game country but Peeters simply loved to hunt waterfowl and did just that until the local lakes froze over. Having lived in California intermittently since 1989, Peeters is familiar with the exceptional waterfowl hunting this state has to offer.

In his new position, Peeters will be working with Hunt Program Coordinator Jeff Smith to manage the ever-growing properties and opportunities in our popular Veteran Hunt Program.

“I’m looking forward to working with Jeff and all the great folks at CWA,” Peeters said. “I can’t wait to build on the tremendous efforts already in place to support the Veteran Hunt Program.”

Peeters served in Desert Storm, and did two tours in Iraq and one tour in Ghazni, Afghanistan, while achieving the rank of colonel. He was fortunate to command at every level from company to Brigade, including the famous 100th Battalion of the 442nd Infantry regiment.

Peeters currently lives in the Southern California community of Porter Ranch, an ideal location to help us support and grow our membership, both regular and veteran, in the southern part of the state.
