About CWA's Heritage Program The Concern Today's Californians are entertained
with television, video games, and other indoor pastimes and are
missing out on wildlife-related recreation. We need
reengage and reconnect people to the great outdoors. We also need to protect open space
and hunting access despite the state’s growing human population. CWA's Approach Many years of focus on political action
combined with science-based decision-making have strengthened CWA’s
success as a top hunting advocate among legislators, agencies, and
others. Hands-on programs to train up new hunters address the other
aspect of our heritage – getting our youth involved as the
next generation of conservation-minded hunters.
More Details Education CWA provides many opportunities
for youths and adults to learn the basics of wetlands, wildlife,
and conservation. Going beyond the basics, we are encouraging all
people to learn valuable recreation skills and take a more active
role in the great outdoors. Our goal is to create new stewards of
our natural resources.

Political Action CWA affects public policy
to maximize quality hunting and public access. We also actively
oppose restrictions on hunting and firearms. In 2006, CWA formed
the California Outdoor Heritage Alliance (COHA) to increase our
ability to mobilize against anti-hunting attacks.
