WOMEN'S OUTDOOR CONNECTIONS

California Waterfowl invites women and families to get involved, join conservation efforts and pass on an outdoor legacy. The Women's Outdoor Connections Program (WOC) supports out-of-doors programs for women and families and is working to create a network forum for women interested in volunteerism, hunting and conservation.

California Waterfowl, together with the WOC Committee has developed three new events for 2008-09. Each one is unique and sure to help build connections and pave the way for everyone to the great outdoors.

Take Your Best Shot…
…with a camera that is!
The “Take Your Best Shot” amateur photography contest will provide a chance for hunters to share the world of waterfowling with others.
Prizes include an exclusive photo session with professional photographer Gary Kramer, waterproof cameras, shotguns, special junior prizes and more! Hunters, this is your chance to take a non-hunting friend or family member out into the blind for a day of photography to show them about the world of waterfowl and being in nature.

Valentine’s Daddy & Daughter Dinner
Enjoy a Special Evening with Your Offspring

. .

On February 13, 2009, celebrate your special relationship with your daughter or son at the NEW Daddy Daughter Dinner Dance. Dads, daughters, mothers, and sons of all ages are invited to this youth-appropriate event. The dinner will be held at the Concord Youth Center, and will include a great dinner, raffle, and auction.

The fun-filled night will include prizes and auction items designed for parent-child attendees.
The featured auction item of the night will be a two-day, all-inclusive hunt at Bird Haven Ranch for a daddy-daughter or mother-son pair. Fundraising proceeds will benefit WOC, promote learning environments, and inspire conservation awareness in women and families.

Women and Children Shoot First
Fun for all.
On August 16, 2008, WOC hosted a shooting skills clinic designed for women and youth to build skills, confidence, and knowledge in a safe and friendly environment. The clinic was held at Coyote Valley Sporting Clays in Morgan Hill. Participants got to practice on rifle, trap, skeet, and archery ranges, and had the option to learn about hands-on conservation, hunting techniques, or wild game cooking.

WOC committee member Holly Heyser wrote about the experience on her blog, which is called NorcalCazadora. To see how the day went visit her site by clicking here>>

About the Women's Outdoor Connections
The Women's Outdoor Connections Program was created by California Waterfowl in 2007 to be a resource that inspires and supports a creative and positive outdoor experience for all by providing education, adventures, and networking opportunities.  Dedicated staff and volunteers are working together to achieve the following three goals; Create opportunities and be a resource for outdoor knowledge, remove barriers by providing an inviting learning environment, and inspire conservation awareness and resource stewardship.
